Description
General Description : Arora Engineers, LLC. provides design and construction services forMEP, fire protection and alarms, and low voltage / special systems for aviation, transportation, educational, commercial, and institutional facilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying, assessing, and controlling health hazards in various work environments to ensure the safety and well-being of employees. This role requires an understanding of occupational health standards, risk assessment, and the implementation of effective mitigation strategies.
Overall Responsibility : Responsible for identifying, evaluating, and controlling workplace environmental factors that may affect the health and safety of workers.
Essential Functions :
- Support Industrial Hygiene, Health & Safety, and Environmental project needs throughout the U.S.
- Collect, identify, and compile observational, spatial, and environmental data from samples of air, soil, water, and other matrices for projects, investigations, and surveys
- Perform industrial hygiene (IH) audits, indoor air quality (IAQ) investigations, and noise assessments
- Perform surveys and collect samples for asbestos-containing building materials (ACBM), lead-based paints (LBP), and water-damaged facilities
- Perform asbestos abatement monitoring and fiber release assessments
- Perform environmental investigations and sampling
- Develop reports related to assessments and investigations
- Meet with regulatory agencies for guidance on requirements or to discuss specific permits conditions or cases
- Develop necessary permit backup documentation, including applicable environmental documents
- Prepare and submit required demolition permits in compliance with applicable regulatory requirements
- Follow-up with regulatory agencies to ensure timely issuance of permits
Qualifications
Required Qualifications :
Prior consulting experience and working with clients having a united work force environment with an involvement in occupational safety and health, asbestos / lead-based paint, IAQ, and other health and safety, and emergency response and preparedness projectsExperience conducting site assessments as they relate to potential environmental impactsPerforming health and safety assessment and reviews or auditsRequires 20% travel, including the potential for overnight tripsStrong verbal and written communication skillsProposal writing and cost estimating experienceKnowledge of relevant environmental laws, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirementsCapable interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a scientific and non-scientific audienceEffective self-leadership with attention to detail, results orientation, and managing multiple priorities in a dynamic work environmentAbility to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow instruction, work independently, and comply with company policiesModerate proficiency with business writing, office automation and communication software, technology, and toolsCritical thinking and problem-solving skills required to reach conclusions from testing results, data collation, and identify the most effective manner to accomplish objectives of assigned projectsProven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by Arora's health, safety, drug / alcohol, and harassment policies; andAbility to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweekEducation / Experience Minimum :
Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, or equivalent5 to 10 years of relevant general occupational safety and health / industrial hygiene experience including the performance of industrial hygiene (IH) surveys & audits; indoor air quality (IAQ) and noise assessments; asbestos-containing building material (ACBM), lead-based paint (LBP) and mold surveys and investigations; asbestos abatement monitoring and fiber release assessments; environmental investigations, including sampling of soil and groundwater; EH&S / occupational safety training; and / or medical monitoring program oversightPrior work experience conducting industrial hygiene inspections; however, strong construction experience and good working knowledge of building construction will be consideredCurrent accreditation as an AHERA Building Inspector or Lead Risk Assessor, or the ability to attain accreditationExperience managing and working with vendors and contractors preferred.
