Job Description:
We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse - Progressive Care to join our team on a contract basis at our facility in Watertown, New York. As a PCU RN, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality patient care during the night shift (7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m.), with weekend, holiday, and call requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Provide nursing care in a Progressive Care Unit setting, ensuring optimal patient outcomes.
- Monitor and assess patients' clinical, teaching, mental, and spiritual needs.
- Recognize safety issues for patients and staff, taking necessary actions to mitigate risks.
- Safely assist with patient lifts and mobility, adhering to best safety practices.
- Manage stressful situations effectively, demonstrating problem-solving abilities.
- Prioritize and delegate tasks, and provide strong leadership within the team.
- Assume duties as a charge nurse if required.
- Ensure effective communication with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
- Participate in a continuous learning environment, adhering to required certifications and competencies.
Qualifications:
- Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
- Current RN license in New York State.
- At least 1 successful completed travel assignment as a registered nurse (new travelers will not be considered).
- Critical care experience preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and in a team-oriented environment.
Certifications Required:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – Preferred
- Coronary Care Course or successful completion of challenge exam during orientation period.
- Basic Lethal Dysrhythmia certification within six months of employment.
- NIHSS certification within the first six months of employment.
Additional Requirements:
- Previous employees of Samaritan Healthcare must be gone for at least 2 years and eligible for rehire to be considered.
- Traveler must be a permanent resident of their home location.
