Role and Responsibilities
The Registered Nurse - CVOR will provide specialized nursing care in the Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR), ensuring the highest standards of patient safety and surgical efficiency. Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting in cardiovascular surgical procedures, including open-heart surgeries, vascular surgeries, and thoracic procedures.
- Preparing and maintaining a sterile surgical environment, ensuring adherence to infection control protocols.
- Monitoring and assessing patients before, during, and after procedures, responding promptly to any changes in condition.
- Collaborating with surgeons, anesthesiologists, surgical technologists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
- Administering medications, including anesthesia support drugs, and monitoring patient responses.
- Managing surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies to ensure availability and proper functionality.
- Documenting patient care and surgical procedures accurately in electronic medical records.
- Providing patient education and support for preoperative and postoperative care.
- Participating in quality improvement initiatives and maintaining compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Experience: CVOR experience required
- Certifications: ACLS, BLS
- Credentials: Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid state license
- Preferred: Experience in high-acuity surgical settings
