Job Description:
We are seeking a Sterile Processing Technician for a contract role in Waterloo, IA. This position is responsible for ensuring surgical instruments and medical equipment are properly decontaminated, sterilized, assembled, and distributed. The technician will work within the Sterile Processing Department to maintain compliance with safety and infection control standards.
Schedule Options:
- 5 days per week: 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM (8-hour shifts)
- 4 days per week: 9:00 AM – 7:30 PM (10-hour shifts)
Key Responsibilities:
- Decontaminate, inspect, assemble, and sterilize surgical instruments and medical equipment.
- Operate autoclaves and other sterilization equipment per established protocols.
- Maintain inventory and ensure timely distribution of sterile supplies.
- Follow hospital policies and infection control standards.
- Collaborate with surgical teams to ensure availability of necessary instruments.
Requirements:
- Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or equivalent certification preferred.
- Previous experience in sterile processing or surgical instrument reprocessing required.
- Knowledge of sterilization techniques and infection control practices.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work evening shifts as per contract requirements.
