Job Description:
We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Sterile Processing Technician to join our healthcare team in Austin, TX. The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for the decontamination, inspection, assembly, and sterilization of surgical instruments and medical equipment. This role ensures all surgical tools are properly sterilized and ready for use in a timely manner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Decontaminate, inspect, assemble, and sterilize surgical instruments and medical equipment according to established procedures.
- Maintain sterilization records and ensure proper documentation.
- Monitor and operate sterilization equipment, including autoclaves and sterilizers.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
- Perform routine maintenance and report any malfunctions or issues with equipment.
- Inventory and restock supplies as needed.
- Collaborate with surgical and nursing staff to ensure instrument availability.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Certification as a Sterile Processing Technician (CBSPD or IAHCSMM) preferred.
- Minimum of 1-year experience in sterile processing or related field.
- Knowledge of sterilization techniques and infection control practices.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility to work night shifts and occasional weekends.
