Job Overview:
We are seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to join our team in Waterloo, IA. This role is essential in maintaining patient safety and infection control by ensuring all surgical instruments and medical equipment are properly sterilized, assembled, and ready for use.
Key Responsibilities:
- Decontaminate, inspect, assemble, and sterilize surgical instruments and medical equipment.
- Operate and maintain autoclaves and other sterilization equipment.
- Adhere to infection control, sterilization, and decontamination protocols.
- Track and document sterilization processes to ensure compliance with regulations.
- Work closely with operating room staff to ensure timely availability of sterilized instruments.
- Maintain organization and inventory of sterile supplies.
Requirements:
- Certification as a Sterile Processing Technician (CRCST or CSPDT preferred).
- Previous experience in sterile processing or a related field.
- Knowledge of sterilization techniques, infection control, and medical equipment handling.
- Ability to work the evening shift (3:00 PM – 11:30 PM).
- Strong attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols.
Additional Information:
- Local and Traveler rates applied.
- Must be available for the full 13-week contract.
- Potential for extension based on performance and facility needs.
