Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Certified Surgical First Assist to join our team in Indianapolis, IN. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in the operating room, providing direct support to the surgical team to ensure procedures run smoothly and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the surgeon during surgical procedures by handling instruments, controlling bleeding, and closing incisions.
- Prepare and maintain a sterile surgical environment, ensuring compliance with all safety and infection control protocols.
- Position and drape patients for surgery, ensuring comfort and safety.
- Perform preoperative and postoperative duties, including preparing the operating room and ensuring proper instrument sterilization.
- Collaborate with surgical teams to anticipate and respond to the surgeon’s needs during procedures.
- Conduct wound management, including suturing, stapling, and dressing changes.
- Monitor patients’ vitals and assist with maintaining a safe surgical environment.
- Adhere to all hospital and regulatory guidelines for surgical care.
Qualifications:
- Certification: Must be a Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) or equivalent certification (e.g., CSA, CFA).
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Surgical First Assist in an acute care setting.
- Education: Graduate of an accredited Surgical First Assist program.
- Skills: Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, instruments, and sterile techniques.
- Licensure: Active and unrestricted license in the state of Indiana (if applicable).
- Ability to work collaboratively in high-pressure environments and demonstrate excellent communication skills.
