Role and Responsibilities
- Installs, repairs, and inspects smoke and fire detection systems; inspects tests, and repairs fire alarm wiring, fire alarm panels and peripheral equipment.
- Install cabling and electrical wiring. Install access control systems and related equipment
- Identifies hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair. Inspects, repairs or replaces smoke/heat detectors and tests fire alarm systems using appropriate diagnostic programs and equipment.
- Ensures that work is in accordance with relevant codes. Performs other general jobs as required including installations and cabling.
- Travel to jobsite locations to complete work and install.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent required
3 years of electrical expierence in a construction environment
NICET II certification with five (5) years verifiable experience preferred
Journeyman license and completion of a accredited apprenticeship preferred.
Preferred Skills
Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in installation, maintenance, and repair of fire and smoke detection systems and equipment.
Knowledge of applicable building codes, regulations, or ordinances.
Ability to operate drills, conduit benders, drill presses, cable pullers, meters (volt, OHM, AMP, Meg), hand drills, hand tools and power tools.
Ability to work in safe and efficient manner. Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
Ability to use diagnostic program and other applicable diagnostic software and equipment. Ability to perform smoke detector sensitivity procedure.
Ability to perform routine maintenance on equipment and determine when and what kind of maintenance is needed. Ability to work in safe and efficient manner.
Work Environment
This job operates in an office and field environment. The field environment will be on construction sites or inside existing buildings. Working conditions can change dramatically from one job to another.
This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Other work tasks will require:
· Ability to work flexible hours including weekends to meet customer requirements.
· Travel to job sites and customer locations within assigned regions.
· Overnight travel may be required.
Physical Demands
This is largely an active role. Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials; Requires repetitive movement; climbing ladders, scaffolds, or poles; standing, walking and running; using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools or controls; and bending or twisting. Some specific demands may include:
· Capable of performing physical labor to include carrying and moving equipment and tools up to 50-70 lbs.
· Able to work in unusual and sometimes difficult position such as climbing ladders, scaffolding and high lift equipment up to 40 feet, working within ducts, crawl spaces, above ceilings, etc

Hours: Monday-Friday 7:00am – 3:30pm; Early arrival and/or overtime may be necessary.
