We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Vice President of Shuttle Operations. This pivotal role involves overseeing the daily operations of the Arizona State University Campus Shuttle, ensuring safety and efficiency, while exemplifying and promoting the Company Mission of providing safe, comfortable, and reliable motorcoach transportation the exceeds the expectations of customers on every trip and our Vision of being viewed by our customers, team members, and peers as the world class standard of customer care and service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

ASU Shuttle Daily Operations

  • Manage and coach team members to ensure policies, procedures, and quality standards are met.
  • Works closely with dispatchers to engage in performance coaching, reviews, and disciplinary actions in an effective and timely manner, ensuring Safety is always priority.
  • Promote, model, and enforce Company safety policies in compliance with DOT, OSHA, ADA, and CSA regulations.
  • Participate in the recruiting process, conducting timely interviews, ensuring applicants continue moving through the process in a timely manner, and hiring World Class drivers.
  • Support and communicate the Company's Mission, Vision, and Key Characteristics of Safe, Humble, Hungry and Smart.
  • Work closely with the COO to develop short-term and long-term plans and objectives, establish budgets, and ensure success. Continuously monitor location performance and financial reports, identify and establish corrective measures as needed to meet budgetary requirements and goals.
  • Determines and assigns routes in an efficient and fair manner.
  • Ensure drivers are in compliance by running Motor Vehicle Reports, authorizing DOT physicals and drug testing as well as Hours of Service monitoring.
  • Resolve operational issues promptly and effectively. Meditate disputes to foster cooperative relationships among staff.
  • Set clear expectations, duties, responsibilities, and accountability for ASU team members.
  • Be available for calls after work hours and on weekends, when needed.
  • Host and participate in regular meetings with senior leadership locally and off-site.
  • Inspect work sites for safety, functionality, and cleanliness.
  • Implement new processes, technologies, and systems to improve efficiency and safety.
  • Prepare detailed reports with current and forecasted information.
  • Foster and drive performance by creating a culture of excellence, accountability and safety within the region. Works closely with the Regional VP to ensure a collaborate environment with ASU shuttle operators and charter operators.
  • Continuously look for ways to improve quality, efficiency, and productivity.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with other departments to establish and carry out responsibilities.
  • Support Maintenance and work closely with the location Maintenance Manager to ensure equipment is properly maintained and available.
  • Support Company programs and comply with Company policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as necessary.

University Related Responsibilities

  • Prepare and send weekly invoices to ASU.
  • Responsible for Accounts Receivable and ensuring payments are made on time.
  • Provide scheduled performance reports.
  • Meet regularly with the University to review performance and expectations.
  • Respond to and fulfill supplementary requests from the University for transportation services not under contract.
  • Work with and maintain vendors used for the University shuttle and their products/services.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • High school degree or equivalent required.
  • Degree in Communication, Marketing, or Business or equivalent experience preferred.

Experience

  • 3-5 years of motorcoach driving experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience successfully leading a team is required (in the transportation industry is preferred).

Knowledge, Skills, and Ability

  • Must be a team player and possess the ability to inspire and optimize team productivity and safety.
  • Current, valid commercial driver’s license and safe driving record.
  • Thorough knowledge of DOT, OSHA, ADA, and CSA regulations.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to multi-task efficiently and handle numerous details simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and various software and industry applications (e.g., Coach Manager, VMS, Samsara).
  • Strong budgeting and interpersonal skills. Must be familiar with basic bookkeeping skills.
  • Ability to be on call and work outside of a “normal” five-day, 40-hour week as needed (this includes evenings and weekends).
  • Must be punctual, reliable and professional at all times.
  • Skills in critical and strategic problem solving, and ethical business practices. This includes doing so with employees, peers, and clients. Commitment to high professional ethical standards.
  • Outstanding organizational and leadership abilities.
  • Ability to effectively present to different size groups and audience types in a successful and engaging manner.
  • Able to travel to other locations when needed
