Aquatics Director
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Aquatics Director to oversee the day-to-day operations of our summertime aquatics area. The ideal Aquatics Director will have a passion for swimming and water safety, as well as strong leadership and management skills.
Reports to General Manager
Important Functions
1. Hiring, training and supervising a team of qualified lifeguards.
2. Creating and maintaining a safe and enjoyable environment for the members and their guests, enforcing standards and policies.
3. Regularly conducts pool safety training, and corresponding policies / procedures with lifeguard team.
4. Supervisory skills in leading, planning, training lifeguard team as to aquatic procedure. Take a supervisory leadership role in correcting, coaching, encouraging and training the lifeguard team.
5. Planning and overseeing the daily operation of the aquatics area, including ensuring all members and their guests are signed in upon entry of pool area.
6. Maintains accurate records of pool chemicals levels and facility maintenance, including backwashing and pool vacuuming. Monitors daily pool operations to adhere to all state and local health and safety regulations. Collaborates with maintenance department to ensure proper maintenance of the pool.
7. Serves as the pool side manager on duty pool.
8. Develop strategies to motivate lifeguard team and achieve goals. Ensure records of staff certificates are current and complete.
9. Oversees swim lesson program, follow up with inquiries through telephone and email correspondence.
10. The Aquatics Director should be present on the pool deck during peak times.
11. Interacts with members and their guests.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s degree.
2. Summer availability, May through early September.
3. Knowledge of swimming pool health regulations.
4. Previous Aquatic Director Experience a plus.
5. CPR /AED Certified, American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Certificate, Water Safety Instructor Certifications must be presented at time of application.
6. Familiarity with Pool Chemicals, with preference to training as a Certified Pool Operator.
