About the Role:
The Head Lifeguard plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of all patrons at aquatic facilities. This position involves overseeing lifeguard staff, managing daily operations, and implementing safety protocols to prevent accidents and respond effectively to emergencies. The Head Lifeguard will also be responsible for training and mentoring lifeguards, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties. Additionally, this role requires strong organizational skills to manage schedules, maintain equipment, and coordinate with other departments. Ultimately, the Head Lifeguard is dedicated to providing a safe and enjoyable environment for all visitors while upholding the highest standards of customer service. Most shifts will be stationed at one of our pools as the head lifeguard and on occasion fill in to supervise all three pools as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Current lifeguard certification from a recognized organization.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Proven experience in a lifeguard or aquatic safety role.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a supervisory or management role within an aquatic environment.
- Knowledge of water safety regulations and emergency response procedures.
- Additional certifications such as Water Safety Instructor (WSI) or Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO).
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and manage lifeguard staff, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and operational procedures.
- Participate in regular training sessions and drills to maintain high levels of preparedness among lifeguards.
- Monitor pool and facility conditions, addressing any safety hazards or maintenance needs promptly.
- Provide exceptional customer service by engaging with patrons, addressing concerns, and promoting a positive atmosphere.
- Develop and implement schedules for lifeguard shifts, ensuring adequate coverage during peak hours.
Skills:
The required skills are essential for the Head Lifeguard to effectively manage the team and ensure a safe environment. Organizational awareness allows the Head Lifeguard to understand the dynamics of the facility and the needs of both staff and patrons. Most shifts are 10:30 AM-7:30 PM, occasionally shift until 10:00 PM on a rotational basis for special events.
