Job Summary:
Plans, organizes and controls the flow of production hardware to support upper level demands and customer order requirements.
Establish, monitor and control product line MRP schedules that effectively supports both customer demands and internal requirements. Accommodate and plan to customer "need" early requirements if detailed investigation yields it to be achievable.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Establish, monitor and control product line MPS and MRP schedules that effectively supports both customer demands and internal requirements. Accommodate and plan to customer "need" early requirements if detailed investigation yields it to be achievable.
Respond to all customer related inquiry requests (such as but not limited to lead-time quotes, order status, cancellation claims) in a timely, proficient manner.
Identify and notify Customer Service when a scheduled shipment will not be achieved as planned and attempt to renegotiate a "new" ship date whenever possible.
Generate and respond to the various MRP exception based reporting systems in a timely manner to insure due dates and priorities are properly defined for the shop floor or procurement staff.
Utilize various tools available to review and coordinate efforts needed to support required start and completion dates of components, subs and top assemblies.
Alert upper level supervision when an unresolved capacity/material constraint is/will affect the company's ability to meet a customer's scheduled delivery requirement.
Process timely release of shop orders in quantities that supports upper level demand requirements as well inventory budget objectives.
Validate shop order packet data for accuracy and completion. Correct as needed before submitting to the shop floor.
Insure MRP fixed lead times are reviewed and balanced against corresponding routing lead times and adjusted as required.
Notify interfacing departments to effect corrections to system data values that have resulted in invalid outputs, particularly those affecting shop load and scheduling.
Respond and coordinate all activities associated with part drawing releases and subsequent revisions related thereto.
Monitor shelf life items and respond as required to support production with usable products.
Comply with prescribed operating practices including those associated with QCI, MEP and SOP processes and procedures.
Participate in production meetings, conferences, seminars and presentations as directed by immediate or department head supervision.
Demonstrate an earnest commitment to the company's objectives for Perfect Delivery, Perfect Quality, 6S, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing and other cost reduction initiatives. Any other duties deemed necessary by direct supervision.

Education and Experience
2 year College degree (or in progress) is highly desirable.
2-4 years work related experience in Production Control, Production Planning and/or Inventory Control. Minimum 5 years as a shop floor PC material planner/scheduler.
1-2 years working background within a manufacturing type environment.
1-2 years experience with an ERP/MRP system (AS400 BPCS or other preferred).
Knowledge, Skill and Abilities

Basic analytical and sound decision making skills.
Able to work independently with minimal direct supervision.
Experience with computerized systems - BPCS or equivalent MRP II software, and job related Microsoft Applications.
Able to read and understand engineering drawings or blue prints.
Knowledge/exposure to various types of manufacturing processes and controls.
MS Excel proficiency required.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
