Home Office: Vienna, IL; Cairo; IL, Anna, IL; or Karnak, IL. Location is dependent on office space availability and proximity to home location.
Area of Focus: Behavioral Health
Program(s): 830 - Supervised Residential: The Supervised Residential Program provides adults living with substantial levels of mental illness or disability with 24/7 services through recovery-oriented community residential facilities.
Immediate Supervisor: Senior Program Director/RN
Hours of Work: Full-time, 40 hours/week
On-Call Rotation: One week per month (Monday 8:00 AM – Monday 8:00 AM)
Residential Specialist Minimum Qualifications: Master’s Degree in Human Services, Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field; Qualifies as a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP). Minimum of five years of experience working in a residential setting with individuals with serious mental illness (preferred).
Residential Specialist Skills & Knowledge: Strong understanding of behavioral health diagnoses, functional limitations, and evidence-based interventions; demonstrated initiative, professionalism, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team; competence and confidence in engaging residents in both structured group and informal home settings; excellent communication and problem-solving skills; willingness to participate in on-call rotation and respond to urgent program needs.
Residential Specialist job duties include, but not limited to
- Conduct initial clinical screenings for prospective residents to ensure appropriate placement and identify support needs.
- Complete and reassess IM CANS and other required clinical assessments in accordance with timelines and guidelines.
- Collaborate with the Residential Program Coordinator to develop and revise individualized treatment plans and behavior support plans.
- Lead preventative behavior planning efforts, focusing on early intervention and supportive strategies to promote resident stability and success.
- Work hands-on in both group and one-on-one residential settings to model and coach appropriate behavioral interventions.
- Serve as a key point of support for resident transitions, crises, and clinical concerns, working collaboratively with program leadership.
- Participate in the on-call rotation one week per month to provide clinical guidance and crisis support to residential staff.
- Maintain up-to-date and accurate clinical documentation, including service notes, treatment plans, and assessments.
- Promote a trauma-informed, person-centered approach in all aspects of service delivery.
