About Crystal Bridges & The Momentary:
Crystal Bridges is a museum of American art located in Bentonville, Arkansas. We explore the unfolding story of America by actively collecting, exhibiting, interpreting, and preserving outstanding works that illuminate the American heritage and artistic possibilities. Founded by Alice Walton in 2005, the museum opened in 2011 and is a public, non-profit charitable organization with free admission.
The Momentary is a new contemporary art space that opened to the public on February 22, 2020, in downtown Bentonville, Arkansas. A satellite to Crystal Bridges, the Momentary presents visual, performing, and culinary arts. The mission of the Momentary is to champion contemporary art’s role in everyday life and explore the unfolding story of contemporary American arts in an international context by actively commissioning and exhibiting outstanding works that explore new ideas and inspire action.
Position Summary:
The Community Engagement Educator is a member of the Community Engagement Department responsible for cultivating and sustaining community relationships, expanding audience outreach, and driving impactful programming. This role includes overseeing the execution of programs, leading co-hosted community partner events, and developing community-driven initiatives that align with the museum’s mission to foster inclusion, learning, and cultural exchange.
Principal Responsibilities:
  • Identify, establish, and strengthen relationships with new and existing community partners to expand the museum’s reach and deepen its impact.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between community partners and the museum, fostering collaborations that are mutually beneficial and aligned with shared goals.
  • Oversee co-hosted events with community partners, ensuring these programs bring diverse cultural experiences to the museum and surrounding communities.
  • Partner with the Community Programs Manager to identify and cultivate community collaborations for the Mobile Art Lab.
  • Provide logistical and operational support for Mobile Art Lab events.
  • Champion diversity, equity, inclusion, and access within community engagement initiatives, ensuring broad and meaningful participation.
  • Advocate for community interests in internal planning and decision-making to ensure museum initiatives reflect the needs and aspirations of diverse audiences.
  • Collaborate with curators, educators, and public programs teams to integrate outreach initiatives with institutional goals.
  • Represent the museum at local events, festivals, and community meetings to foster connections and promote exhibitions and programs.
  • Utilize data-driven insights to assess audience engagement and refine strategies for inclusivity and impact.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage numerous projects simultaneously
  • Must be able to work evenings and weekends as program schedule demands
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Arts, Humanities, Education, or related fields.
  • 2-4 years of experience in program management, community engagement, or audience outreach roles.
  • Proven ability to manage projects, budgets, and teams effectively.
  • Experience with program evaluation and audience research.
  • Bilingual experience preferred (Spanish and/or Marshallese)
  • Hands-on knowledge of best practices on inclusion, belonging, community engagement, arts education, and sustainable community relationship building
  • A critical thinker who can analyze data, and capitalize on information
  • A confident and team-oriented person who is creative, energetic, and accountable.
  • An outgoing collaborator who shares information easily, listens, and respects the abilities of others, and has a high level of emotional intelligence and political awareness
  • Good communication skills
  • A self-starter with strong motivation to succeed.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage numerous projects simultaneously
  • Must be able to work evenings and weekends for programs both onsite at the museum and in the community.
  • Ability to travel within Northwest Arkansas and surrounding regions.
  • Must project credibility, influence, and demonstrate ethical and professional behavior.

  • Physical demands: Regularly, while performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to travel independently regionally and in communities served. In the work environment described below, position requires working at a desk and utilizing a computer and a telephone, good eye/hand coordination, bending and stretching, standing and sitting in the ability to move around galleries, the classrooms, and throughout the museum, including travel on the outdoor trails. Visual acuity to review written materials is required for this job.
  • Work environment: Work will be performed in an office environment, museum galleries, art studios, outdoors on the trails, and in communities served. Some evening and weekend hours are required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the Museum work environment is usually low to moderate All offers of employment are contingent on your successful completion (where permitted by state law) of a confidentiality agreement and background check. In addition, you will need to provide proper identification verifying your eligibility to work in the United States on your first day of work.
