About The Position
The Director of Admissions is responsible for the day-to-day operations and activities related to AWSOM student admission and prospect management. This position will be essential in establishing pathway programs, policy development, admissions procedures, and overall recruitment of medical students. The Director of Admissions will also be responsible for continual evaluation of outcomes, process improvement for admission, assisting in producing annual reports for the AAMC and LCME, and representing AWSOM to external audiences interested.

Major Responsibilities/Essential Functions Specific To The Position:
- Manage day-to-day operations of admissions personnel including hiring, training, development, and evaluating performance.
- Under the supervision of and in collaboration with the Assistant Dean of Admissions, Recruitment, and Whole Health Initiation, develop and deploy a data driven recruitment and marketing plan.
- Manage prospect and applicant inquiries.
- Assist in the design, implementation, and compliance of all phases of the admission process.
- In partnership with the Office of Inclusive Excellence, support targeted pathway programs at various institutions.
- Collaborate with the Office of Inclusive Excellence to implement strategies for the recruitment of AWSOM students.
- Develop, implement, evaluate, and assess workflows and operating procedures to ensure equity and fairness among a diverse applicant pool.
- Oversee the development and execution of communication plans for prospects, applicants, admitted students, and pre-health advisors, including social media related to activities that support recruitment and admissions.
- Assist with training of all AWSOM faculty, staff, students, and community members who are involved in student admission; including admissions interviewers, committee members, and application screeners, ensuring continuity throughout the process.
- Oversee the advisement of applicants in understanding the application, admissions, and registration requirements.
- Provide administrative support for Admissions Committee meetings, orientation, and faculty training.
- Represent AWSOM by effectively interacting with faculty, staff, students, and applicants with diverse backgrounds and interests at colleges, universities, fairs, and conferences.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned to support the mission of AWSOM.
Minimum Education
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, or related field.
Preferred Education
- Master’s Degree in a related field is preferred.
Minimum Work Experiences
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the medical student admissions process at an accredited institution.
- At least 3 years of experience in a supervisory/administrative role.
Preferred Work Experiences and Qualifications
- Experiences with AMCAS and MD application process.
- Experience with holistic application review and multiple mini interview process.
- Experience with admissions processing and tracking software.
