About The Position
This role secures gifts in service of the Museum’s mission by creating and executing high-level, tailored cultivation and stewardship plans. At its core is soliciting and stewarding major gifts from a highly engaged portfolio of generous donors in support of Museum priorities.
Responsibilities
Must be able to remain in a stationary standing position an estimated 25% of the time or sitting position 75% of the time. The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc and move files, books and equipment up to 10 pounds for various office and event needs.

About The Position
This role secures gifts in service of the Museum’s mission by creating and executing high-level, tailored cultivation and stewardship plans. At its core is soliciting and stewarding major gifts from a highly engaged portfolio of generous donors in support of Museum priorities.
Responsibilities
- Actively manages and directs a growing portfolio of 30-40 major gift donors by cultivating, soliciting and stewarding donors and prospects.
- Partners with curatorial and administrative colleagues to create persuasive and comprehensive proposals seeking support for institutional priorities.
- Provides thoughtful consultation to curatorial department leadership on departmental donor prospect strategies and engagement; provides staff support to museum leadership on donor visits and solicitations.
- Maintains up-to-date strategies and information that continually advance gift conversations and inform holistic plans for relationships with managed donors.
- Leads the creation of timely and personalized acknowledgment communications and bespoke experiences for donors.
- Ensures a pipeline of new donors by partnering with research staff to identify and qualify major gift prospects.
- Collaborates with research, advancement operations, and donor stewardship to maintain excellent data accuracy within donor profiles, gift records, and stewardship reporting.
- Facilitates estate and legacy conversations with planned giving supporters.
- Serves on administrative and cross-Museum teams and task forces.
- Other duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required. Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum 5-7 years track record of progressively responsible experience in a non-profit philanthropy environment or analogous work environment, including experience managing a donor portfolio and securing $50K gifts.
- Knowledge of the Chicago philanthropic community preferred.
- Strong communication skills, particularly an ability to communicate museum priorities clearly.
- Outstanding organizational and project management skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to make presentations in person or virtually.
- Experience with Raiser’s Edge or a similar database tool.
