As the Benefits Manager, you'll play a key role in supporting the employees who discover, inspire, and train the great problem-solvers of the next generation. In this position, you will oversee the day-to-day benefit operations of the organization and be a key partner to HR Leadership on benefits strategy, vendor management, compliance, and policy development. This position is ideal for an innovative and influential benefits subject-matter expert who has a proven history of implementing change.

The HR Manager - Benefits will:

  • Oversee the strategic direction of employee benefits programs, including health & welfare, 401(k), leaves, workers' compensation, and wellness initiatives.
  • Manage benefit elections, demographic updates, and policy changes while enhancing employee understanding and engagement.
  • Serve as an HR subject matter expert, advising leadership and employees on benefits, accommodations, and leave management.
  • Administer employee accommodations and leave cases, including the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), personal leave, and other specialized leave types.Ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Oversee the workers' compensation program, including claims management, audits, and risk mitigation, while acting as the main contact for high-risk cases.
  • Lead annual audits (workers' comp, 401(k), compliance), implementing improvements to minimize risk and ensure compliance.
  • Drive HR events and communications, including open enrollment, benefits fairs, and wellness initiatives, aligning with company goals.
  • Conduct advanced data analytics to optimize HR processes, inform strategic decisions, and enhance system efficiency.
  • Analyze industry trends and competitor offerings to recommend competitive benefit packages that meet employee needs.

The ideal candidate has:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, HR Management, Finance, or similar
  • 5 years of progressive experience with benefits administration in a multi-state environment with multiple entities, office locations, and divisions, preferably in a technology or education environment
  • Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) or Certified Benefits Professional (CBP) certification preferred
  • Demonstrated understanding of how to implement and administer health benefits (including self-funded and fully insured plan dynamics), retirement plans, leaves of absence, accommodations, workers' compensation, and wellness programs throughout the US. Experience transitioning companies from fully insured to self-funded is a plus
  • Knowledge of pertinent federal and state regulations, filing, and compliance requirements affecting payroll and benefits programs, including ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, Section 125, Workers' Compensation, Medicare, HSA/FSA, PFL, and sick pay.
  • Dependable, with a proven ability to facilitate change through strong interpersonal relationships; able to work independently and with the team
  • Proven ability to lead benefits system implementations and upgrades, ensuring alignment with business objectives and compliance requirements; experience using Paycom to administer benefits is preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, with experience using Excel to manipulate benefits data into reportable outcomes
  • Display absolute integrity, sound judgment, and confidentiality
