The Role:
We are seeking a seasoned publishing professional to join our Boston staff as Acquisitions Editor. This role will involve managing and contributing to significant areas in electrical engineering, including mobile communications, power engineering, RF/MW engineering, antenna and propagation, and cyber security.
Responsibilities:
- Commission 15 to 20 new books per year, with forecasts sufficient to meet revenue goals.
- Collaborate with series editors and experts to refine commissioning strategy, perform market research, and suggest new projects.
- Monitor trends in electronics, staying abreast of future growth areas of interest.
- Manage manuscript review and development processes.
- Own project schedules and follow up with authors from proposal to production.
- Handle author inquiries and prospective author contact.
- Attend scientific meetings, represent Artech at industry conferences.
- Visit universities, engineering schools, and centers of excellence.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree
- At least two years' acquisitions experience, signing authors and developing projects.
- Demonstrated ability to evaluate potential authors, ideas, trends, and projects, and develop them for a specific audience.
