What are the responsibilities and job description for the Drafter position at Artech LLC?
We are seeking a detail-oriented Designer / Drafter to join our team. In this role, you will create and modify detailed technical drawings using CAD software and SolidWorks, working closely with engineers to ensure design accuracy, manufacturability, and quality. You will contribute to design modifications, maintain engineering documentation, and support product development with high attention to detail.
This position offers the opportunity to lead projects (will potentially be the project lead for the team) , collaborate with consultants and clients, and exercise creativity in problem-solving. If you have a strong background in CAD design and a passion for precision, we’d love to hear from you!
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and update detailed CAD drawings from sketches, layouts, and engineering input.
- Modify designs to improve manufacturability and product quality.
- Ensure drawings align with project requirements, standards, and accuracy.
- Collaborate with engineers on design models, drafting standards, and documentation (ECN / ECR).
- Maintain and organize engineering change orders (ECOs), files, and archives.
- Create fabrication and assembly drawings
- Creates Gerber data from CAD.
- Support circuit design modifications and documentation.
- Solve complex design challenges while maintaining efficiency and quality.
- Potentially lead projects and coordinate with consultants and clients.
Qualifications & Skills
Associate degree, vocational / technical certificate, or equivalent experience in a related field.
Strong skills in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar).
Strong communication (oral & written) and ability to collaborate in a team environment.
omputer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of
SolidWorks Design software;
MS Excel Spreadsheet software and
MS Word Word Processing software.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Certified SolidWorks Associate preferred.
Other Qualifications
Intermediate skills in 3D solid Modeling / drafting using SolidWorks software
Intermediate skills in 2D drafting using AutoCAD software
Intermediate knowledge of conventional engineering drawing practices per ASME Y14 standards.
Intermediate knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5
Intermediate knowledge of machining operations and shop practices

Other Essential Duties
Follows all import / export requirements, consulting with facility import / export personnel as required.
Other Skills and Abilities
Basic Knowledge of ISO and / or AS9100
Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing / 6 Sigma / Kaizen
Knowledge of specific software (design, analysis, ERP…)
Other Qualifications
US Citizenship with ability to attain / maintain government security clearance.
