Artemis Healthcare is a privately owned diagnostic healthcare system focused on anatomic pathology, cytopathology, and molecular pathology. We are searching for a director of laboratory operations to cover several facilities nationwide, based out of West Palm Beach, FL.
Job Summary:
The Director of Laboratory Operations is responsible for ensuring the accurate, precise, and timely performance of testing for Molecular, Cytology, and Histology departments across the organization.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Recruits, interviews, hires, new staff.
Oversees the daily workflow of the departments.
Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Conduct operation meetings and ensure appropriate communication across the organization.
- Resolve client inquiries and operational issues in a timely manner by consulting with the Medical Director, managers, discipline directors, laboratory directors, or corporate operations
- Effectively manage the staffing of the departments and monitor the production schedule to ensure adequate coverage and proper use of overtime, and adjust as needed
- Ensure the diagnostics laboratory provides market-leading service levels, meeting the needs of our clients and corporate service metrics established for TAT
- Participate in strategic planning for laboratory services and future testing pipelines.
- Direct department leadership for organized and prioritized work, mentor leaders to write/conduct performance reviews, train/develop, and manage work performance.
- Communicate goals clearly to employees to ensure understanding and success in achieving them.
- Ensure adherence to CLIA and CAP regulatory requirements and good laboratory practice.
- Coordinate, lead, mentor, and support process improvement within functional roles to drive cost savings, efficiency, and productivity.
- Consult, as necessary, on the development of standard operating procedures (SOP) required for the performance of diagnostic testing. Draft, edit, review, and approve SOPs as required.
- Serve as a resource to sales and marketing to ensure all product descriptions (electronic and paper) are correct and compliant with CLIA and CAP regulatory requirements.
- Serve as a resource in the creation, validation, documentation, and approval of specimen pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical results.
- Ability to manage multiple competing priorities with successful follow-through and timely delivery.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to problem solve and provide solutions under minimal supervision
- Proficient with Laboratory Information Systems and Microsoft Office
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills; including the ability to easily convey concepts and priorities to peers, customers, and cross-functional teams.
- High level of attention to detail with strong organizational skills
- Comfortability in making decisions in a changing environment
- Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
Education / Certifications:
- Bachelor's degree in science, Medical Technology, Histology, Cytology, or related field
- Current relevant certification Experience / Abilities: Must be ASCP certified.
- At least 10 years of applicable work experience
- At least 5 years of relevant leadership experience

Pay: $80,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
