Position Overview
The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing all aspects of project accounting for capital initiatives within the organization. This role requires strong technical accounting knowledge, particularly related to capitalization policies, as well as excellent communication skills to collaborate with various departments. The position involves tracking financial transactions, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting project stakeholders with financial insights.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee financial transactions related to capital projects using project accounting software.
- Review requisitions to ensure appropriate capitalization in accordance with GAAP and company policies.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to track capital projects, assess project viability, and initiate depreciation when assets are placed in service.
- Prepare and present budget-to-actual analyses to project stakeholders.
- Collaborate with project managers to resolve budget discrepancies and financial concerns.
- Monitor capital expenditures, ensuring proper cost accumulation and timely project completion.
- Maintain compliance with internal controls over project accounting.
- Support external audits by providing required documentation and explanations.
- Identify and propose process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Perform additional accounting duties as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5 years of experience in full-cycle accounting, with a focus on project or capital accounting.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial software applications.
Salary : $95,000 - $105,000
