Commercial General Liability Claims Specialist
Job Purpose:
Manage all 3rd party dig in damage claims under $5K, 1st party equipment claims and 3rd party pothole or property damage claims.
Essential Job Functions:
- Investigate claims via telephone, written correspondence, and/or personal contact with claimants, attorneys, insureds, witnesses and others having pertinent information
- Make timely claims payments and adjustments; communicate claim action/processing with claimant and client.
- Provide comprehensive, complete thorough analysis of coverage determination.
- Understand third party recovery process and identify and ensure subrogation efforts are undertaken against responsible parties.
- Negotiate claims to settlement and secure general releases for settlement
- Attend offsite meetings as required
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES INCLUDING
- Bachelors degree
- 1-3 years of commercial general liability claims experience
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Exhibit negotiation, critical thinking, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Outstanding customer service, attention to detail, and multi-tasking skills.
- Strong computer skills, including the ability to work effectively in the claims management system and strong knowledge of Microsoft applications (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Ability to exercise independent judgment with moderate supervision in handling claims within reserve and settlement authority.
- Ability to manage and prioritized workload and diary management
