Artesia Christian Home Skilled Nursing is in need of a Part Time Activity Assistant with morning weekday and weekend availability several shifts per week. Available shift: 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. and 3:15 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
The purpose of this position is to assist in implementation of daily activities and events while creating meaningful relationships to enrich the lives of the Residents living in our Skilled Nursing Department. We are looking for someone who has a passion for helping others, enjoys leading groups, and is able to engage the Residents participating in those groups. This position is part of the Life Enrichment Department, a program that aims to engage residents in life enriching experiences at a level that is appropriate for their needs. Previous experience working with elderly who have Dementia is desirable.
Hiring Qualifications:
- Must possess written and oral communication skills in English
- Must have high school diploma
- Must be familiar with computer, tablet, and internet skills
- Must be able to hear, talk, and have clear vision with or without corrective lenses.
- Must maintain a high energy level
- Must be able to perform in a busy environment, subject to frequent interruptions, hostile and emotionally upset residents or family members, subject to falls, infectious diseases, substances, etc.
No late nights. Part Time position available.
Starting Rate is $19.50. Will consider prior related job experience and/or degree(s) for higher wage.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
* Initiate and lead the daily activities for dementia residents including but not limited to: exercise groups, games, singing, crafts, socializing, etc. according to the monthly Activity Calendar.
* Set up and facilitate communication between families and Residents with video calls using Zoom, Facetime, Skype, GoogleDuo, etc., voice phone calls, and window visits.
* Maintain resident engagement in meaningful programs specific to the resident's interests and abilities.
* Assist in implementation of the individual resident’s person-centered Life Enrichment care plan including personal preferences and requests.
* Assist with the organization of supplies, equipment, and group events
* Ensure the safety of each resident, including behavior management intervention.
* Record and complete Resident Daily Activity Participation Charting for each individual resident.
* Prepare dining room for mealtimes by organizing individual table settings, serving beverages, enforcing dining room table assignments, and leading devotion and prayer before meals.
* Engage in one-on-one socialization and room visits in between scheduled group activities

* Attend all in-service meetings
* Perform other related duties as directed by his/her supervisor in cooperative manner; teamwork
