Main Objective: Responsible for a broad range of IP services in order to protect the organization's legal interests and maintaining its operations within the scope established by law.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Draft and prosecute US patent applications.
• Manage patent and trademark portfolios.
• Management of outside counsel working on IP-related matters.
• Supporting/lead role in the development of patentability, validity, infringement, freedom-to-practice opinions and patent searching.
• Frequent interaction with the R&D and product development teams.
• Must be able to travel up to 20% of the time.
  
  

Education And Experience

• Must also be a graduate of an accredited law school and a member in good standing of a state bar.
• Must be a registered US patent attorney, with a minimum of 5 years’ experience, well grounded in patent drafting and prosecution, preferably on a world-wide basis.
• Specific experience in orthopedic industries is preferred.
• Experience with surgical planning software, medical imaging, endoscope technology, virtual reality, and machine learning are all desirable.
  
  

Knowledge And Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses And/or Training

• Advanced writing, comprehensive reading, communication and research skills required.
• Electronic based legal research experience required.
