What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Billing Specialist position at Arthritis & Osteoporosis Associates?
Arthritis & Osteoporosis Associates has an opening for an experienced Medical Billing Specialist. The right candidate will have at least 1 year of prior billing experience, but candidates with general medical office experience with a willingness to learn are encouraged to apply. Our office utilizes the Allscripts Practice Management system.
*Must have prior experience with claims corrections, remittance advice, and EOB posting.*
Duties include but are not limited to:
-Maintaining patient billing accounts
-Contacting insurance carriers via phone/websites for claim status and eligibility info
-Verifying insurance benefits
-Knowledgeable with insurances like: Medicare, United Healthcare, BCBS, Texas Medicaid, and Aetna
-Post office charges
-Posting and verifying rejections and payments from Explanation of Benefits
-Be knowledgeable with Modifiers to get best claim outcome/payment
-Contact patient or employers via phone and follow up to obtain current billing/insurance information
-Appeal and redirect claims
