Overall
Responsibility
A community support supervisor is responsible for overseeing the provision of community support services and development of a trauma informed culture at the workplace.


Key Tasks and
Responsibilities
  • Provide supervision of community support specialists to include daily availability for consultation, ongoing opportunity for skill development and provides consistent supervision with staff.
  • Ensures appropriate documentation and recording occurs within time constraints including tracking signatures on all documentation per policy.
  • Reviewing and signing off on required documentation in electronic health record.
  • Conducts screenings and assessments for potential and current clients.
  • Overseeing appropriate provisions of clinical services and the development and reviewing of treatment plans.
  • Advocates effectively for clients/staff.
  • Ensures program data is organized and tracked in order to report Quality Improvement data to the QI committee, the board, and DMH.
  • May be assigned to various committees within the organization.
  • Manages time well as evidenced by being on time for appointments, attending staff team meetings, attending agency Quality Improvement meetings (if needed) and completes documentation on time.
  • Able to prioritize workload.
  • Works as part of an integrated team.
  • Attends staff meetings, supervisor’s meetings, etc. as scheduled.
  • Participates in on-call rotation as required and will provide crisis intervention services to clients in need that are assigned to your team.
  • May oversee different programs that are a part of within the Adult CPRC department.

  • Has a moderate to extensive knowledge of mental illness to include diagnosis, symptoms and correlating intervention.
  • Effective crisis intervention skills including but not limited to assessing and managing risks of suicide, effective safety planning, etc.
  • Possesses a basic knowledge of the mental health delivery system to include the Missouri Department of Mental Health, Substance use treatment facilities, Supported Community Living, and surrounding Administrative Agents.
  • Has a working knowledge of clients who have various comorbidities and who understand the complex needs of the population we serve.
  • Maintains a professional appearance and dresses appropriately.


Physical Requirements
It also requires extensive documentation and review of documentation in an electronic health record. Lift requirements are approximately 20 pounds and the ability to provide physical support to some clients on a non-routine basis. May include travel in the field to conduct appointments, completing assessments, and crisis intervention.


Degree
Requirements
Meets at least one of the following:
1. Meets the criteria for a qualified mental health professional.
2. Has a Bachelor's degree or Master’s degree in social work, psychology, nursing or related field. Master’s degree is preferred.
3. Equivalent experience may be substituted per DMH policy.


Licensure
Requirements
Class E Driver’s License
Certifications: Basic Life Support, Nonviolent Crisis Intervention, Level 1 Medication Aid.


Experience
Requirements
Preferred experience in case management with adults and/or youth with severe and persistent mental illness.
