Responsibility
Support for dental services for in-scope health center
Non-exempt position, minimum of 40 hours per week
Attendance
- Maintains and assures compliance with agency attendance policy
- Plans time off to ensure proper support and for dental clinic
- Makes self available to staff and dental clinicians as needed
- Follows leave policies established by the organization
Communication
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills and proficient in telephone etiquette
- Communicates with management/supervisor in a timely manner, any problems, concerns or clinic issues
- Accurately communicates information with clinical and administrative staff to support an integrated approach to service delivery
- Seeks advice from management in high risk situations
- Communicates with Outreach/Navigators/Supervisors with financial issues when needed
Customer Relations
- Assures that new patients are properly oriented to health center services and facilities
- Monitors schedules of dental clinicians to assure that clinical resources are maximized and that client caseloads are managed to provide adequate access to those needing routine and emergency care, and to provide compliance with Managed Medicaid Contracts
- Communicates with dental clinicians regarding schedules, patient concerns and appointment priorities
- Handles customer complaints and refers difficult cases to management/supervisor when customer concerns cannot be addressed to the customer’s satisfaction
- Sets clear boundaries with consumers and staff
- Exhibits efficiency, cooperation, respect and trustworthiness
- Maintains a strong working relationship with agencies assisting in the delivery of consumer treatment, billing and payment
Job Knowledge
- Has a thorough understanding of confidentiality, current HIPAA regulations and organizational HIPAA policies.
- Mastery of the practice management module modules of the electronic health record to schedule patients, enter and update patient demographics, understand the patient’s account, amounts owed and co-payments due on their upcoming visit
- Understanding of dental treatment plans to assist in scheduling visits to complete the treatment plans
- Ability to learn and understand other computer systems involved in payment for services including E-MO Med and payer portals
- Understands requirements of payers (Sliding Fee Scale, Self–pay, commercial insurance, Medicaid, Medicare) and responsible for the proper assignment of payers to the providers’ encounters
- Understands patient financial responsibility and is accountable for collecting amounts that are the patient’s responsibility prior to the delivery of services
- Monitors key practice indicators such as no-show rates and works with providers to maximize efficiency and access
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor
