Responsibility
The role of the psychosocial worker is the direct provision of educational, social and leisure activities in a group setting at the program site and in the community. Psychosocial Workers document client interactions according to the treatment plan and assist clients in the acquisition of skills in order to promote independent functioning.
Key Tasks and
Responsibilities
- Provides multiple types of group educational, social, leisure, and co-occurring disorder recovery groups.
- Models behavior for clients in the group.
- Provides client oversight on outings.
- Provides safe transportation for clients using agency vehicles. Maintains a good driving record.
- Assists clients in meal preparation.
- Documents client's progress.
- Participates in team meetings and clinical staffings.
- Monitors symptoms and reports pertinent information to team members.
- PSRW II: In addition to the above the PSRW II takes a leadership role in provision of activities through utilizing interventions that demonstrate a higher skill level with consumers with complicated needs.

- Possess understanding of empathy, good listening and observations skills and uses them in the provision of group activities.
- Solid knowledge of nutrition and food preparation.
- Basic knowledge of mental illness to include signs of decompensation, side effect recognition and symptoms associated with CPRC eligible diagnosis. PSRW II must demonstrate a higher understanding of diagnosis and interventions.
- Basic knowledge of Intellectual Disabilities/Substance Use issues and their relation to the primary mental health diagnosis.
- Basic knowledge of community resources.
- Basic understanding of Arthur Center Community Health policies and procedures that relate to their position.

Physical Requirements
PSRW must be able to provide physical support to adults with mobility impairments entering and exiting vehicles and must be able to lift 20 pounds with packing groceries and other program supplies. Must be able to operate a van or mini-bus.
Degree
Requirements
PSRW I: requires a high school diploma or GED.
PSRW II: Meets at least one of the following:
1. Has a bachelor's degree (social work, psychology, nursing or related field is preferred).
2. Has equivalent education and experience to qualify as a community support worker.
Licensure
Requirements
Class E license for the use of vehicles.
Basic Life Support
Level 1 Medications Aid.
Experience
Requirements
PSRW I: 1 year of experience in the human service field is preferred.
PSRW II: 1 year of experience in the provision of PSR activities or related experience is preferred.
