Primary Purpose:
The Accounts Payable Intern will work with both internal customers and external vendors. Duties include data entry of invoices, running checks, reconciling statements, responding to both internal and external inquiries and electronic filing of invoices and other documentation. This position offers the intern the opportunity to learn more about an accounting position while assisting the accounting team in fulfilling their daily tasks.
Responsibilities:
- Communicate with internal customers and external vendor contacts to resolve invoice questions and discrepancies
- Enter high volume level of invoices daily, utilizing three-way match reconciliations
- Reconcile vendor account statements against internal accounting records to ensure accuracy
- Respond to both internal and external inquiries and communications
- Electronically file invoices, payment records and all supporting documentation
Qualifications
Education, Qualities and Skills Required:
- Current college-level student pursuing a degree in finance, business or accounting.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office with an emphasis on Microsoft Excel
- Strong work ethic, conscientious about timeliness and deadlines
- Desire to learn new tasks and support a team
Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a part-time hourly position, with flexibility to work within the employee’s class schedule during normal business hours Monday through Friday. Expectations of 10-15 hours per week while school is in session and the opportunity for 40 hours per week when school is not in session, to be worked during normal business hours. This position is an onsite position.
Physical Requirements:
The physical requirements of this position are similar to those found in an office position and include standing/sitting for extended periods of time, operating traditional office equipment, i.e., computer, printer, etc, and the ability to safely walk to, from and around the warehouse on even walking surfaces.
