Job Description
Schuman Cheese is now hiring for a night shift Maintenance Tech to join our team. Our plant produces snack packs of cheese, nuts, and berries through highly automated production lines.
Shift is 6pm-6am on a rotating 2-2-3 schedule.
Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair problems.
- Perform facility maintenance duties.
- Perform routine maintenance procedures during the sanitation process.
- Work with hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical circuits (12, 24,110 and 480 volts).
- Troubleshoot electrical issues.
- Perform preventative and reactive maintenance procedures.
- Train and assist production employees on routine maintenance procedures.
- Read manuals and apply information to working problems.
- Respond to all breakdowns quickly and perform repairs safely and correctly while performing quality work.
- Maintain tools in acceptable working condition.
- Participate and support the SQF program and assist in the development of the system.
- Ensure quality and safety procedures are always followed.
- Maintain a clean and sanitary work area.
- Ensure all documentation is accurate and complete.
- Maintain responsibility for the quality and food safety of products and ensure procedures are followed at all times.
- Bring food safety and quality problems to the immediate attention of Schuman personnel with authority to initiate action.
Qualifications
- High school diploma-minimum, Associate Degree in maintenance related field preferred.
- Knowledge in HACCP, GMP, SQF and USDA regulations is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills paying special attention to details.
- Strong interpersonal skills, able to contribute to a team environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to understand and apply standard operating procedures.
- Ability to understand all plant GMP’s.
- Ability to lead by example (demonstrate strong work ethic, positive attitude, etc.).
- Ability to multi-task, work quickly and accurately.
- Ability to become lock-out/tag-out certified.
- Some welding and fabricating experience a plus.
- Good mathematical and recordkeeping skills required.
- Working knowledge in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to speak read and write in English.Work Environment/Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to work repetitiously.
- Ability to stand for long periods at a time.
- Able to work inside a freezer or cooler and in cheese processing environment temperatures (32 – 52 degrees F).
- Able to work with tree nuts, milk and wheat.
