Description
Primary Purpose: Support the objectives and strategies for the development, implementation and integrity of the Quality Specification Management System, ensuring accurate, comprehensive and up to date information of the products that are manufactured and sold by Schuman Cheese.
Responsibilities:
- Create new item production specifications, including label review and FDA compliance
- Develop and maintain the specification application as part of the product life cycle management system
- Deploy and maintain specification design/format to incorporate the key elements of specification management best practices (version controls, approvals, change management, etc.)
- Manage the specification preparation, update revision and posting process (i.e. roles, responsibilities, review, input, approval, notification, posting, etc.)
- Trains and supports Associate level personnel to better serve sales team, project managers, QA team and to meet regulatory standards
- Ensure document content, format and organization accurately addresses customer, regulatory, and quality requirements
- Prepare and respond to customer inquiries and requests for technical information for assigned accounts
- Resolve specification and formulation-related discrepancies and issues (BOMs, master inventory lists, product lists, etc.)
- Collaborate with appropriate functional areas and work to again alignment
- Integrate specification development into new product/item development processes
- Collaborate with Information Technology to ensure system integrity as needed
- Assist in establishing priorities and assigning workload to achieve on-time completion of deliverables
Qualifications
Education, Qualities and Skills Required:
- Bachelor's degree
- Preferred Master’s degree
- 4-6 years food industry experience
- Quality assurance experience a plus
- Familiar with CFRs, FDA standards and regulatory compliance
- Familiar with document management requirements as codified in Quality Management system
- Working knowledge of FDA regulations, requirements and food development processes
- Self-motivated
- Demonstrated analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication, presentation and collaboration skills
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively cross-functionally
- Customer focused
- Highly organized, with the ability to effectively plan and prioritize work
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Experience developing specifications
- Knowledge of Genesis Nutritional Software and calculating nutritional data
- Knowledge in using PLM/Lascom system
- Customer portal knowledge for uploading documents
- Ability to work with project managers in commercialization of products
Supervisory Responsibility:
No direct supervision required.
Work Environment:
Typical office working environment which includes a workstation equipped with a computer and other office supplies necessary for daily tasks. Typically climate-controlled to provide a comfortable working temperature year-round. Lighting is usually a mix of natural and artificial sources to ensure sufficient lamination.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time salaried position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday. Expectations of 45 hours per week, to be worked during normal business hours.

Compensation and Benefits:
The budgeted salary range for this position is $89,000-$110,000, with a 10% annual bonus potential.
