Schuman Cheese is looking for a Quality Assurance Technician who will be responsible for ensuring quality and food safety specifications are met for products, packaging and ingredients.
Shift:
3rd shift: M-F 10PM-6AM; additional hours as needed due to production demands
Responsibilities:
- Complete metal detector, X-Ray and scale set up, verification and inspections.
- Complete inspections and monitoring to ensure compliance with GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices).
- Complete verifications to ensure proper materials, packaging, labels and ingredients.
- Complete weight checks, packaging inspections and product evaluations.
- Audit identified critical control points.
- Collect and prepare samples for testing.
- Calibrate laboratory equipment.
- Responsible for putting product on hold or stopping production to prevent or stop production due food safety or quality related issues.
- Thoroughly and accurately complete all required paperwork and documentation.
- Responsible for reporting any deviations from specifications and any identified food safety, quality, GMP and regulatory issues to appropriate members of management.
Qualifications
Education, Experience, Qualities and Skills Required:
- High school diploma, or equivalent
- Experience in the food industry preferred
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills (both written and verbal)
- Able to easily build relationships and rapport
- Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Able to remain calm under pressure
- Able to handle and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously
- High attention to detail
- English language proficiency required; Spanish is a plus
Work Environment/Physical Requirements:
Work environment fluctuates between office, laboratory setting and food production areas. Standing is required for 90% of work shift. Must be able to walk, bend, stoop, squat and twist. Personal Protective Equipment must be worn in required areas.
