Article Student Living is looking for a Vice President of Investments to join our dynamic and expanding team in Chicago, Illinois. This role is important to leading the sourcing, evaluation, structuring, documentation, execution, and closing of student housing investment opportunities.
You will collaborate with Article's senior executives across multiple departments to ensure our strategic goals are achieved and surpassed. We are looking for an experienced professional to support senior leadership in directing and implementing Article’s go-forward acquisition and development strategy.

This role is based at our home office in the Fulton Market area. It requires in-office attendance 4 to 5 days per week and extensive travel.
You will report to the Head of Strategy.
Compensation for this role will be in the range of $120K - $220K/year, determined by experience, plus a performance bonus.
Potential travel up to 20% of the time.
Your Mission
Identify, source, and implement student housing acquisition and development opportunities across U.S. markets.
Promote detailed underwriting and assessment of investment opportunities with support from a team of deal leads, associates, and analysts.
Collaborate with the development and asset management teams to ensure the execution of underwritten business plans for development and value-add acquisitions post-closing.
Negotiate legal documents (LOI, PSA, JVA, DMA) alongside internal legal and third-party counsel.
Present deliverables and memos for Article executives, investment committee, and LP and debt approvals.
Support in-house LP equity capital raising efforts and Article’s debt capital markets team.
Work with Development and Construction Management, Property Management, and Asset Management teams to prepare pro formas and budgets and evaluate project and deal feasibility.
Position Article Student Living as a premier developer and investor in the industry.
Develop existing networks to support the sourcing of opportunities.
Create trusted, permanent relationships with partners, investors, lenders, sellers, consultants, architects, general contractors, and brokers.
Hire, train, and manage a high-achieving team of investment associates and analysts, and selflessly mentor team members in both deal and non-deal settings.
Your Track Record:
6 years of experience in student housing or multi-family development with a history of success is required; acquisition experience is helpful
Existing network of student housing and real estate professionals
Demonstrated leadership and mentoring capabilities
Bachelor's degree in real estate, business, finance, civil engineering, architecture, or related field required.
