Job Description:
We are seeking a Senior Engineer with extensive experience in assembly fixture design, particularly within the medical device manufacturing domain. The selected candidate will work closely with the customer and coordinate with the offshore team to manage fixture design activities, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality designs.
This role requires expertise in assembly fixture development, CAD design, and project coordination while maintaining a strong focus on meeting customer requirements and supporting qualification activities (TFIQ).
Key Responsibilities:
Assembly Fixture Design & Development:
- Develop and design assembly fixture concepts, create detailed concept drawings, and perform tolerance stack-up analysis.
- Create detailed CAD models and 2D drawings for fixtures using Creo/SolidWorks 2023.
- Submit designs for the release process and ensure quality adherence.
Customer Coordination & Requirement Gathering:
- Collaborate with manufacturing engineers to gather inputs, fetch device and manufacturing data, and ensure alignment with customer requirements.
- Review design outputs and coordinate approvals to meet project milestones.
Offshore Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with the offshore team to delegate tasks, review progress, and ensure design accuracy.
- Provide technical guidance and ensure smooth execution of fixture development activities.
TFIQ Activities & Documentation:
- Support Test Fixture Installation Qualification (TFIQ) by filling out qualification reports for each fixture using specified forms.
- Ensure that all design deliverables meet required standards and are properly documented.
Project Management & Schedule Adherence:
- Develop project plans, manage schedules, and ensure adherence to timelines.
- Proactively identify and mitigate risks to ensure project success.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 5 years of experience in assembly fixture design, preferably in medical device manufacturing.
- Expertise in Creo/SolidWorks 2023 for CAD modeling and 2D drawing creation.
- Strong understanding of tolerance stack-up and GD&T principles.
- Experience coordinating with offshore teams and managing design deliverables.
- Knowledge of qualification processes and documentation for fixtures (TFIQ).
- Strong project management and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience working at a customer location managing fixture design and development.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements in the medical device manufacturing industry.
- Ability to troubleshoot design challenges and provide innovative solutions.
