An established and globally recognized contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Director of Business Development to lead strategic growth initiatives across the small molecule sector. This individual will be responsible for identifying and securing new commercial partnerships, expanding relationships with key accounts, and driving long-term revenue growth. This role is ideal for a senior-level professional with deep industry knowledge, commercial acumen, and experience navigating complex sales cycles within pharma and biotech environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead strategic business development efforts focused on small molecule development and manufacturing services, from early-phase through commercial.
- Develop and execute multi-year growth strategies in alignment with corporate objectives and market trends.
- Cultivate and manage high-level relationships with decision-makers at pharmaceutical and biotech companies.
- Partner closely with technical and operational teams to develop tailored solutions that address client needs across API development, scale-up, and manufacturing.
- Oversee the proposal, pricing, and contract negotiation process for high-value opportunities.
- Serve as a senior point of contact during client onboarding and project initiation to ensure continuity and customer satisfaction.
- Monitor market intelligence and competitive activity to identify emerging opportunities and inform strategy.
- Represent the organization at industry conferences, networking events, and trade shows, serving as a thought leader and brand ambassador.
- Mentor and support junior business development staff as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Life Sciences, Business, or related field; advanced degree (MS, MBA, PhD) highly preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in business development or commercial roles within the CDMO, CMO, or pharmaceutical industry.
- Extensive knowledge of small molecule drug development and GMP manufacturing processes.
- Proven ability to develop high-level partnerships and close complex, multi-million-dollar deals.
- Strategic thinker with a strong commercial mindset and excellent negotiation skills.
- Confident communicator with the ability to engage both technical and executive-level stakeholders.
