Position Summary
Perform a variety of duties involved in the planning, care and maintenance of plants and grounds and perform a variety of technical tasks relative to assigned areas of responsibility.

Minimum Education, Experience And Additional Requirements
Education directly related to the minimum requirements below may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
High school diploma or GED; and
Two (2) years experience in horticulture grounds maintenance work.
Additional Requirements:
Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire.
Possession of a City Operator's Permit (COP) within 6 months from date of hire.
Preferred Knowledge
- Methods and techniques of plant maintenance including the pruning and trimming of a variety of shrubs
- Care, operation and maintenance of a variety of power tools and equipment
- Principles of plant taxonomy and classification
- Techniques of plant and garden care
- Proper watering techniques as applied to individual plant life
- Safe work practices
- Basic principles and practices of grounds maintenance
- Basic principles and practices of irrigation system installation, maintenance, and repair
Preferred Skills & Abilities
- Care for and maintain a variety of plant life
- Perform a variety of grounds maintenance duties
- Install, maintain, and repair irrigation systems
- Operate a variety of hand and power tools in a safe and effective manner
- Understand and follow oral and written instructions
- Communicate clearly and concisely
- Perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation
