What are the responsibilities and job description for the Toddler Assistant Teacher position at Arts for Kids?
Summary
Arts for Kids is looking for an energetic, fun-loving toddler assistant teacher to work Monday- Friday, 8:30am - 5:30pm.
Duties
RESPONSIBILIES;
1. Aid children in eating, dressing, diapering, and washing hands and faces, and other activities to foster appropriate habits.
2. Dispense medications as necessary according to parents signed parents' permission slip if lead teacher cannot.
3. Work with other staff to develop individual potentials of children.
4. Display ability to initiate a group activity during free choice time.
5. Take over Lead teacher position in his\ her absences.
6. Responsible for assisting in assigned classroom and other classroom, as director deems necessary.
7. Assist lead teacher in maintaining a clean and appropriate atmosphere for the children to be in.
8. Aid in washing and sterilizing classroom toys on a daily basis.
9. Aid in keeping classroom clean and neat avoid collection of paper, books, etc., from collecting on shelves, cabinets, children's cubbies, etc.
10.Aid in keeping children's cubbies in a clean and orderly manner.
11.Maintain confidentiality
12.Report any suspected abuse or neglect to lead teacher/or director and document appropriately.
13.Attend in service and staff meetings.
14.Be an advocate for children's concerns.
15.Be familiar with and follow center program polices, philosophy and licensing regulations.
16.Encourage children to use language.
17.Maintain sanitary toileting and diapering areas.
18.Wash hands with soap and water at appropriate times before feeding, before preparing food, before and after diapering.
19.Record in a medical logs any medications given and any treatment of injuries. Complete incident report, if needed.
20.Become familiar with emergency procedures.
21.Promote mealtime and snack times as a pleasant social and learning experience for children.
22.Hold infants while bottle feeding.
23.Inform parents of food consumption and other daily routines of their child.
24.Sit with children during snacks and meal to provide a good role model and encourage conversation.
Requirements
Be 18 years of age and satisfactory completed or be enrolled in a 3 credit ECE course or have completed a self-paced course : Introduction of the Childcare Profession and Fundamentals of Infant & Toddlers as approved by the Department of Children and Family.
