African Dance Instructor – Afterschool Program
Location: Arts4Schools by Arts In CT

Arts In CT is seeking an experienced and passionate African Dance Instructor to teach traditional African dance moves and techniques to students in grades 4-8. This unique afterschool program combines African cultural dance with bucket and stick drumming to create a vibrant and engaging experience for students.

Program Details:

  • Start Date: February
  • Schedule: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays
  • Time: 3:05 PM to 4:15 PM
  • Location: Arts In CT

Responsibilities:

  • Teach African cultural dance techniques to individuals and groups.
  • Collaborate with students to incorporate drumming into their dance routines.
  • Create a fun, educational, and culturally enriching environment for students.
  • Provide instruction tailored to youth, inspiring creativity and movement.

Qualifications:

  • Strong background in African dance, with prior teaching experience (preferably with youth).
  • Knowledge of cultural techniques and their historical significance.
  • Ability to work with students in grades 4-8 and foster an engaging, inclusive atmosphere.

  • Samples of your work experience in African dance instruction.
  • Three reference letters.

Ability to Relocate:

  • New Haven, CT 06515: Relocate before starting work (Preferred)

Work Location: In person
