The Studio Assistant supports the operational and educational functions of the studio by assisting both the Studio Coordinator and Lead Instructor. This role is key to maintaining a smooth, efficient, and creative environment, ensuring that all programs and events run effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation and setup of materials for various classes and events.
- Provide support to the Lead Instructor during classes by helping manage classroom dynamics and student needs.
- Support the Studio Coordinator in administrative tasks, scheduling, and maintaining a clean and organized studio environment.
- Assist in the coordination of special events and summer camps, ensuring a positive and engaging experience for participants.
- Multitask effectively, prioritizing tasks and maintaining focus during busy periods to improve the studio experience for customers.
- Engage with students and parents to foster a welcoming and inclusive studio atmosphere.
- Ensure the studio is well-maintained by restocking supplies and keeping the space clean and organized.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Strong communication and familiarity with studio art practices.
- Experience working with children.
- Experience with crafts and/or artmaking.
- CPR/First Aid Certified or willing to become certified.
- College graduate or equivalent work experience.
- Proficient computer skills.
- Background Check required.
Nice to Have Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree or higher in a related field: Art Education, Museum Education, Studio Art, Art History, Education, or a closely related field.
- Knowledge of Studio Thinking, Studio Habits of Mind, TAB (Teaching for Artistic Behavior), or Choice Art teaching methodologies.
Other Job Characteristics:
- Occasional lifting of supplies and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of the studio and its programs.
- Strong classroom management skills and experience working with diverse age groups.
- This role is part-time with a primary focus on weekends and weeknights, accommodating our diverse program offerings. During camp sessions, the schedule shifts to primarily weekday hours to support our immersive camp experiences. Flexibility to adapt to these varying schedules is essential.
