Job Summary:

The Treatment Specialist serves as support staff and is responsible for answering evening phone calls, taking and monitoring vital signs, observing detoxification clients, preparing snacks and breakfast, observing and monitoring clients, maintaining a clean and sanitary environment at all times, supervising treatment activities, conducting weekend life-skill groups, mock meetings, and structured activities that are conducive to successfully completing treatment while adhering to Agency, behavioral health, and federal and state guidelines.

*The following job junctions are not all-inclusive. Job duties may change as required by needs of the agency. You will assume the responsibility of assuring that you working under to understand your role in accomplishing the strategic goals and performance measures of the Agency.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

The Treatment Specialist will complete routine inspections every 15 minutes of all residential and transitional living clients, while reporting all client activity (negative or positive) to required personnel and management. The Treatment Specialist is responsible for mentoring clients while providing a positive, professional attitude that uplifts clients and conveys support to the recovery of their addictions.

Primary Responsibilities:

Job Specifications:

· Attends bi-weekly staff meetings; provides input for improvement of grounds, client treatment activities, programs, etc.

· Conducts routine inspection of dormitories every 15 minutes; conducts round according to state and agency protocols including but not limited to UA samples, client belonging searches, paperwork, daily scheduled chores, activities, etc.; inspects dorms, rooms, common areas, hallways, bathrooms, and performs thorough search for contraband when needed;

· Documents daily progress reports in client charts (support notes); Examine and utilize client information logs; meet with staff for updated client information;

· Administers detoxification protocols including but not limited to completion of CIWA forms, vital signs, rounds, completion and submittal of ECRs and DRs from Detox;

· Observe and documents clients consuming medication; Proctor and screen detoxification clients while monitoring vital signs; follow all medical procedure guidelines when observing clients consume medications; documents all quantity and quality of sleep for detox clients in file; documents amount of meals and fluids consumed by detox clients;

· Transports clients in company vehicles to appointments, meetings, and outside treatment activities only when approved by management; ensures rules and regulations of transportation policies are followed; as well as client conduct is appropriate in public reporting any non-compliances

· Collects urine samples as required by state and agency policy guidelines; ensures proper documentation is submitted along with the sample; reports all positive drug screenings to appropriate personnel;

· Assist, teach, and/or supervise clients with general household chores, cleanliness and food preparation; cleanup is required

· Provides overview of treatment programs in regard to program rules, procedures, and services with new clients who admit;

· Uphold and enforce the agency’s standards, policies, practices, procedures, client rights, and professional code of ethics and conduct; enforces compliance with rules and structure to ensures safety and quality client care;

· Records accurate and up-to-date reports; responds appropriately to client or facility emergencies; follows all emergency procedures; communicate immediately with appropriate personnel in the event of an emergency;

· Documents critical incident reports; assists clients in making complaints/grievances; ensures complaints, grievances, and successes are reported to the Health, Food and Safety Officer or designee in a timely manner according to policy;

· Facilitates daily group activities and meetings for clients; conducting life-skill groups; mock meetings; etc. that are conducive to the successful completion of treatment; provides appropriate support and structure for clients in their recovery; develop rapport with clients/interact continually with clients;

· Conducts quality therapeutic activities, enters appropriate activity notes for treatment activities as required, communicates with therapists regarding treatment while documenting essential information in the support notes, etc.

· Ensures clients wake up on time; follow a structured daily schedule, and go to bed on time;

· Clean the facility afterhours; conduct basic maintenance inspections such as changing light bulbs, taking out the trash, washing clear doors; placing work orders in to supervisor when necessary;

· Prepare and oversee meals consumed by clients; ensure kitchen chores are completed upon departure of the kitchen; ensure that clients are only in the kitchen during meal times;

· Answer and document evening phone calls; reports evening phone calls to the admissions department; follows proper telephone etiquette and policies when responding to prospective emergency admissions; makes referrals to suicide hotlines, medical detox programs, etc. as needed;

· Maintain maturity while supervising clients; treating them with respect and dignity;

· Maintains compliance with ARVAC Freedom House Confidentiality and Privacy Policies, all program requirements and policies, mandated by agency, state, local, and federal guidelines.

· Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience working with adults and families in a substance abuse, behavioral, and/or mental health treatment setting.
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field- Preferred
  • CNA is preferred but not mandatory
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to sit with some bending and reaching.
  • Ability to engage in repetitive movement of wrists, hands, and fingers – typing and/or writing.
  • Ability to work frequently at close visual range (i.e. computer terminal, extensive reading).
  • Ability to receive and respond to oral communication.
  • Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.

Work Environment:

  • Noise level in the work environment is moderate to occasionally loud (examples: business office with computers and printers, light to moderate traffic, human voices).
  • Standard office equipment generally used includes:

o Telephone

o Personal Computer (monitor, keyboard, and mouse) or Tablet

o Printer/Photocopy Machine

o Calculator

o Fax Machine

  • May be required to operate a motor vehicle during the course of duties.
