Position Summary
Reporting to the Costume Shop Manager, this part-time position assists the Wardrobe Supervisor with running the costumes track for theatrical productions, as well as daily organization, laundry and maintenance.
Responsibilities
● Distribute costumes and related equipment, and keep records of item status
● Arrange costumes in order of use to facilitate quick-change procedures for performances
● Perform repairs and attend to notes
● Laundry, hand washing, hang drying, stain removal, checking in/out dry cleaning and otherwise maintaining costume cleanliness
● Run costume track during performances, working closely with wardrobe supervisor, ASM’s and actors to perform quick changes of costume and hair
● Assist actors with makeup and hair as designed by costume & wig designers
● Re-block wigs at the end of night
● Sort, hang and re-set all costume pieces
● Keep dressing rooms safe, clean and free of clutter and debris
● Keep work area clean, safe and free of debris
● Responsible for check-in procedures for all productions
● Other reasonable duties as assigned
Skills and Competencies
● Demonstrated experience in a variety of hand sewing skills
● Demonstrated experience in a variety of sewing machine techniques
● Ability to operate with skill a variety of sewing machines
● Ability to operate industrial gravity feed iron
● Demonstrated ability in running a dressing track
● Experience with laundry, sewing, pressing & steaming, and other maintenance
● Ability to work with wigs, natural hair and makeup
● Ability to work as a team player and a strong ability to work independently
● Comfortable sitting, standing, and bending for long periods of time
● Comfortable lifting up to 25lbs
● Ability to manage time effectively
● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Compensation
This is a part-time, nonexempt position earning $18.50 per hour and is eligible for paid sick leave.
