Position Summary :

Patient Services Supervisors at Southampton Hospital are responsible for overseeing the day-to-day supervision of the patient services operations.

Essential Position : This position is considered "Essential". The incumbent must report to work regardless of extreme weather or other conditions.

Required Qualifications :

  • Associate degree in Culinary Arts or similar, or equivalent of education and experience in a Sous Chef position
  • Food Manager Certificate (current or obtained within 6 months of hire)
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a kitchen leadership role.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a long-term or acute care facility.
  • Strong knowledge of inventory management and purveyor ordering procedures.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local codes and regulations about hospital food service
  • Knowledge of A la Carte / Room Service food operations
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Proficiency with Windows computers and software
  • Ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position.
  • Ability to meet acceptable background check standards.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in Culinary Arts or Healthcare Management, or equivalent of education and experience
  • Experience as a Chef in a healthcare setting
  • Patient / Health care software experience
  • Experience supervising Union employees
  • Responsibilities / Essential Functions :

    Program / Department Responsibilities :

  • Opens and closes the department following proper procedures
  • Responsible for work schedules and meetings with employees under their direct supervision to maintain high standards
  • Supervision of Patient Services staff, as well as food production staff.
  • Oversees daily procurement by placing and coordinating orders with multiple suppliers to ensure timely and accurate delivery of goods
  • Follows inventory procedures to maintain accurate stock levels and optimize inventory management.
  • Enforce timeliness of patient tray service and proper food portioning at all times.
  • Coordinate daily meal preparation, adhering to quality standards and establishing time frames.
  • Meets with morning and evening supervisors to discuss and resolve any issues and changes.
  • Review supervisor's logs daily for staffing concerns, equipment / production problems, and work assignment sheets.
  • Enforce departmental sanitation policy and procedures. Ensure sanitation standards, safety, and infection control procedures as required by the various regulatory agencies.
  • Under government standards, check and document sanitation and cleanliness of all work areas, including pantries.
  • Identify and make recommendations to improve patient meal service operation.
  • Ensure proper food handling procedures are being followed as outlined in HAACP.
  • Notify appropriate departments of malfunctioning equipment immediately upon observance.
  • Complete required departmental reports and records within an established time frame, including various quality control reports.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

  • Act proactively to prevent accidents / injuries and communicate hazards to supervisors when identified.
