For this role, both Certified and non-certified Sterile Processing Tech candidates will be considered. Requirements for each level noted below. Non-certified techs will have the opportunity to obtain their certification (see details below). Salary is based on level of position, qualifications, and years of relevant experience.
- Certified Techs start at $21.86 and up - depending on experience
- Non-certified Techs start at $19.28 and up - depending on experience
In both the certified and non-certified positions, you will make extra money per hour (shift differentials) when working swing, night, and weekend hours!

Position Summary
Following infection control practices and aseptic techniques, the Sterile Processing Tech is responsible for disassembling, cleaning, decontaminating and reassembling all instrument trays, sets, medical surgical supplies and equipment. They also complete sterile preparation, sterilization, storage and distribution of all the aforementioned items that are required for the care of the patients.
Qualifications
Requirements for Certified Sterile Processing Tech:
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience demonstrating the ability to effectively communicate as needed for the position
- Knowledge of sterilization practices, instrumentation, decontamination processes, medical/surgical supplies and patient related equipment, to include knowledge of surgical instrument trays, sets, and single instruments
ONE of the following is required:
- CSPDT: Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician, or
- CRCST: Certified Registered Central Service Technician
Requirements for NON-certified Sterile Processing Tech:
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience demonstrating the ability to effectively communicate as needed for the position is required for both certified and non-certified positions
- Previous experience in a customer service field exhibiting excellence in teamwork and communication
Certification Opportunity! As a Sterile Processing Tech at Asante, after completing 400 hours of on-the-job training in the Sterile Processing department - and with Manager approval - you would have the opportunity to take a Sterile Processing Certification course through IAHCSSM (International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materiel Management). This online course will be paid for by Asante (a $400 Value) and the employee will be responsible for just the cost of the test (approximately $125.00). Upon completing the course and passing the test, you would be eligible for an additional $1.50 per hour increase!!
