Perinatal Tech ATRMC (Obstetrics)
Additional Position Details: FTE: 0.000001 | On Call | Variable Hours/Variable Days
Salary: $28.94 and up (based on qualifications and years of relevant experience). Plus, you will earn extra shift differentials for swing, night, and weekend hours:
- $1.33 extra for working between 3:00pm - 11:00pm
- $2.25 extra for working between 11:01pm and 7:00am
- $1.16 extra for working weekend hours
The Perinatal Tech at Asante Three Rivers Medical Center is a member of the health care team whose primary responsibility is the management and preparation of supplies and equipment for the birth process. In addition, the Perinatal Tech scrubs for operative procedures done in the OB OR, primarily cesarean section deliveries. They function under the direction of the RN and perform all duties in accordance with department policies and procedures. They also carry out the clerical and receptionist duties of the nursing unit.
Successful candidates will have the ability to problem solve; interpret and deal with variables in an efficient, logical manner within scope of practice; have current knowledge and skills appropriate to care of women during the childbearing cycle and well newborn infants; and demonstrate interpersonal skills to represent department to the public and internal customers through actions and behaviors.
As a Perinatal Tech you will have the opportunity to:
- Perform a scrub role demonstrating a surgical conscience based on sterile technique according to recommended AORN guidelines
- Organize the instrumentation and the sterile field and performs all surgical counts consistently, including the safety count
- Anticipate the needs of the surgeon, pass appropriate instruments, and assist in exposure of the surgical field
- Assist in Pre-delivery set up, Post-delivery cleanup and instrument management as well as the maintenance of supplies and equipment
- Ensure that everything the nurse and physician/CNM require is available for a successful delivery including the Del cart properly stocked, extra instruments available when needed

Experience
ONE of the following is required:
- CST: Graduate of nationally accredited, approved by the OHA education program for surgical tech and holds Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTA)
- Completed training for surgical techs in the military and has completed 16 hours continuing education every 2 years
- Documentation showing surgical tech practice during at least 2 of the 3 years immediately preceding 01/01/2017 and completes 16 hours of continuing education every 2 years
- Licensed Practical Nurse licensed by the Oregon State Board of Nursing (OSBN) may be accepted in lieu of CST and/or experience requirement
Certifications
- BLS: Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider certified by the American Heart Association (AHA) required upon start
- NRP: Neonatal Resuscitation Program certification, preferred
