Position Summary
The Staff Development Specialist designs, organizes, implements, and evaluates educational programs, orientations, continuing education, and in-services that facilitate the professional growth, skill development, competency, and attainment of standards of care for direct care providers within Patient Care Services.
Key Responsibilities
- As an educator, develop, plan, and present educational activities within area(s) of expertise and directly or indirectly foster the development of competence in the learner.
- As a facilitator, assist learners in identifying both their learning needs and the effective learning activities required to meet those needs.
- As a change agent, facilitate the initiation of, adoption of, and adaptation to change.
- As a consultant, help others profit or learn from their own experience.
- As a researcher, integrate relevant research outcomes into nursing practice through effective learning activities.
- As a leader, provide and support organizational and administrative structures to achieve departmental and organizational goals.
Required Experience
- Minimum 3 years of current experience as a full-time RN in an acute care setting.
- Demonstrated ability in teaching/learning principles as well as educational concepts and processes.
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN); or related health care management or health sciences field; or equivalent in additional education and experience is required.
- Master's degree in Nursing; or related health care management or health sciences field, preferred.
- RN: Registered Nurse licensed by Oregon State Board of Nursing required upon start.
- BLS: Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider certified through the American Heart Association (AHA) required upon start.
- Advanced certification as indicated by primary area of coverage, preferred.
