JOB DESCRIPTION – Hydrogeology/Geotechnical Technician
The Hydrogeology/Geotechnical Technician role offers a unique blend of fieldwork and team collaboration. You will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting monitoring instrumentation, data collection, and infrastructure for Hydrogeologist and Geotechnical Engineer. This will involve spending 75% of your time in the field, in all weather conditions, and working closely with other departments to prepare sites for drilling activities and installations. Primary Responsibilities:
· Follow safety procedures and best practices while performing duties
· Data collection with a computer, handheld device, or manual field observations or readings
· Survey locations with a GPS following the appropriate SOPs
· Instrumentation installation with hand tools and troubleshooting
· Notifications to appropriate skilled trades for support as needed
· Must work closely and coordinate work schedules with Pit Operations, maintenance, suppliers and contractors
· Maintain facilities in order and do routine site inspections of dewatering and monitoring infrastructure
· Use of software and hardware is required to interface with monitoring systems
· Assist with site preparations, support, documentation, and closure of Hydrogeological and Geotechnical drilling sites
· Collect, label, and deliver samples to the laboratory
· Maintaining inventory of necessary supplies and ordering as needed
· Coordinate, collect, and logistics of receiving products in the warehouse or suppliers
· Responsible for executing, supporting, and enforcing the Company's Environmental, Health and Safety program as required by OIS policy, directives, and principles.
· Perform other duties as required.
Skills and Requirements:
· High School diploma or GED
· A desire to work in the mining industry
· An aptitude for working with computers and electronics
· Must enjoy working outdoors
· Must have attention to detail
· Must be skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards
