ASARCO Ray mining operation, a 250,000 TPD hard rock open pit copper mine located 64 miles southeast between Phoenix and 70 miles northeast Tucson, Arizona.

We are looking for motivated students with a strong interest in the mining industry. Our internship program is 10 weeks long, in which you will receive important industry training and get involved in meaningful real-world projects like planning a program, designing a process, or implementing technology. The culmination of your program will include an opportunity to present your work to management.
Position: Process Control Engineer Intern will be assisting the L-SXEW Department
Duties:
- Program Tankhouse PLC to support new remote rack and connections to substation breakers.
- Prepare tag names and descriptions for substation breaker data to be saved in Rockwell PI historian database.
- Modify Distributed Control System (DCS) computer displays to show substation breaker status and operational data.
- Evaluate assigned field problems (real or theoretical) and report back as required.
- Meet everyday safety goals.
- Various other projects as assigned.
Education Requirements:
- Candidate must be enrolled in an accredited school or university and currently pursuing a degree in, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or other related degrees.
Knowledge & Skill Requirements:
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal abilities.
- Time management skills in performing multiple projects with various team members.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively present findings and make recommendations.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products
Experience Required: No previous experience required.
Physical Requirements / Working Conditions:
Frequent sitting, standing, walking and some exposure to dust, noise, and extreme temperatures* (*not for all majors)
Duration: Requires at least a ten-week internship commitment between mid-May and mid-August.
