POSITION OVERVIEW
The Corporate Industrial Hygiene Manager will be responsible for overseeing all industrial hygiene (IH) activities and general safety requirements at the mining sites. This role requires a strong focus on setting up and calibrating sampling pumps, analyzing IH data, organizing and documenting reports, and providing recommendations for hazard controls. The role will conduct in-the-field spot reviews of high-risk areas, attend dust control meetings, and generate weekly reports to ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards. This role requires occasional travel to all of our sites within Arizona and Texas but will be primarily based at one of our sites in Arizona.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Set up, calibrate, and operate air sampling pumps and equipment for monitoring exposure to dust, gases, vapors, and other hazardous substances.
- Perform in-the-field industrial hygiene activities, including real-time sampling in high-risk areas and spot-checking for compliance.
- Collect samples (air, dust, noise, etc.) and ensure they are sent to certified labs for analysis in a timely manner.
- Review, interpret, and analyze lab results and monitoring data, ensuring they align with OSHA, MSHA, and other regulatory standards.
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation of all IH and safety data collected, maintaining an organized database of sampling results.
- Prepare detailed reports summarizing findings from IH monitoring activities, lab results, and safety assessments.
- Maintain records of calibration and equipment maintenance to ensure consistency and accuracy of sampling data.
- Analyze data to assess potential occupational hazards and risks, providing actionable recommendations for exposure control measures, such as ventilation, PPE, or process changes.
- Participate in risk assessments and assist in developing controls for chemicals, dust, noise, and other workplace hazards.
- Support general safety compliance efforts, conducting safety inspections and audits across the site.
- Ensure all employees adhere to site safety protocols, personal protective equipment (PPE) usage, and emergency response plans.
- Assist in incident investigations, root cause analysis, and development of corrective action plans.
- Attend regular dust control meetings, providing insight on current dust monitoring activities, sampling results, and compliance progress.
- Lead discussions on dust mitigation strategies, advising on the most effective controls and adjustments to existing measures.
- Monitor dust control efforts across the site, identifying areas for improvement and providing recommendations to management.
- Conduct regular spot reviews of high-risk areas on the site, assessing conditions and identifying non-compliant or hazardous practices.
- Collaborate with operations and safety teams to implement corrective actions promptly.
- Generate **weekly/monthly reports** for management, outlining any safety or hygiene concerns, compliance issues, and corrective actions taken.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, MSHA, and other relevant health and safety regulations.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industrial hygiene regulations and standards, incorporating best practices into site procedures.
- Provide guidance to site management and employees on IH and safety compliance.
- Conduct training sessions on industrial hygiene topics, including dust control, respiratory protection, and hazard communication.
- Clearly communicate sampling results and potential exposure risks to both management and employees.
- Assist with the implementation and training of site-wide safety initiatives and safety awareness programs.
- The job requires interfacing with regulatory authorities, staff, and employees.
- Perform additional health and safety activities as assigned
- Responsible for executing, supporting, and enforcing the Company's Environmental, Health and Safety program as required by OIS policy, directives, and principles.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES

- Experience with Noise and Air monitoring/measuring tools.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and have a satisfactory driving record.
- Ability to work in field environments, including exposure to weather elements, dust, and loud noise.
- Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), including respiratory protection.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including walking, standing, and climbing in industrial settings.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma/ General Education Diploma (GED)
- Bachelor's degree in industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field equivalent working experience desired.
- 3-5 years of experience in industrial hygiene, occupational safety, or a related role, preferably in mining or heavy industry.
- Knowledge of OSHA, MSHA, NIOSH, and ACGIH regulations and guidelines.
- Experience with calibration and operation of industrial hygiene sampling equipment, including air sampling pumps.
- Strong analytical skills and experience with data interpretation and report generation.
- Experience in developing and implementing hazard controls.
- Proficiency with IH software and data management tools.
- Working knowledge of 30 CFR (Code of Federal Regulations) Metal Mining and the Mining Code of the State of Arizona
- English language fluency.
- At least CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference) B2 - Upper Intermediate: Can understand the main ideas of complex text on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical discussions in their field of specialization.
