The Body Shop Helper is responsible for assisting the technicians in repairing and restoring all assigned vehicles to pre accident condition.
- Assist in approaching the repair planning with a sense of urgency and detail to avoid waste and rework later in the process
- Assist in de-trims and disassembles vehicles, putting parts on parts carts
- Assist in pre-pulls to make repair vs. replace decisions
- Assist in identifying and sourcing parts as necessary
- Assist in performing quality repairs without passing on defects
- Consistently utilize all required safety equipment and follows proper repair procedures
- Adhere to all requirements for hazardous waste disposal
- Keep personal work area organized and returns tools, materials and equipment to designated areas
- ASE certification in body repairs
- Auto Body Vo-Tech certification or military equivalent experience preferred
- Demonstrate commitment to continued learning by ongoing participation in I-CAR
- I-CAR Welding certificate a plus
- Periodic lifting and carrying of objects over 50 pounds
- Will be required to reach above and below shoulder level
- Must be able to push materials / parts carts and push cars (with assistance)
- Must be able to kneel, bend, squat and stoop for extended periods of time to complete or inspect repairs
- Manual dexterity and eye / hand coordination to operate equipment
- May be exposed to repetitive tasks involving hand and arm motion
- May be required to inspect vehicles outdoors in inclement weather
- May be exposed to fumes, chemicals, high levels of dust and noise in repair center
- Must be able to wear protective equipment, including respirator
- Must be at least eighteen years of age
- Must have a valid Driver’s License
- Must be able to pass pre-employment screens (background & drug test)
