Description
Position Title: Custodian
Department: Facilities Department
Reports To: Custodial Supervisor
FLSA Classification: Non-exempt
Entry Pay Rate: $13.00 per hour
Hours: 20 per week
Position Summary: Maintains facilities in a hospitable, clean, and orderly condition.
Work Schedule:
- working schedule is Monday through Friday; 5:00am-9:00am.
- must be able to work during non-scheduled hours on an emergency basis.
- occasional weekend and holiday work may be required.
Essential Functions:
- clean all surfaces in classrooms, offices, chapels, restrooms, hallways, elevators, stairs, and any other spaces in assigned areas.
- sweep, mop, vacuum, and/or polish all floors with appropriate equipment.
- collect all trash and recyclable materials and take to designated location.
- replenish restroom supplies.
- prepare housing for incoming tenants and guests by thoroughly cleaning all surfaces (make beds and provide linen where applicable).
- observe directives of reservation systems.
- set up tables, chairs, stage, and other equipment as requested through reservation system.
- strip and reapply floor finish to tile floors.
- clean carpets.
- clean walls, woodwork, and windows.
Other Responsibilities:
- report suspicious activity to appropriate authority
- report broken or non-functioning items to the facilities department
Direct Supervision & Project/Team Leadership or Training: NA
- attend biweekly safety meeting.
Tools and Equipment:
- possess keys to campus and housing buildings
- possess knowledge of custodial equipment and materials
Education/Certification/Training/Experience/Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- possess basic knowledge of custodial skills and procedures.
- possess ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
- possess ability to prioritize job duties.
- possess good organizational skills.
- possess ability to stand, stoop, bend, and stretch for majority of shift.
- possess ability to lift light to heavy loads on a daily basis.
- possess ability to climb ladders.
- possess ability to use various cleaning machinery and products.
- possess ability to work beyond scheduled shift on an emergency basis.
